The Star Meter is the live progress bar above your hand during a level. It shows your lead vs. 2nd place in real time, with markers for the 2-star and 3-star thresholds. Watch it climb as the rounds go on. If the bar dips into the red, you've fallen out of 1st and need to catch up.
